It's no more a secret that college life means to make ends meet on a shoe-string budget. A veracity that's undeniable. I am still a student in my final year of college and managing the same circumstances. Going along the same lines during my entire period of college-hood; I had always tried to save my resources as much as possible and sustain. However, in my vast college campus, we always had numerous options of food types to luxuriate in.
One of my favourite eateries amongst the numerous cafeterias and one of the most economic options that ruled our campus crowd was a sandwich hut. High on taste, vibrant in variety and easy on your pocket made it everyone's treasured one. A small sandwich shop specializing in sandwiches from across the globe. My usual was always the “Chivito" a speciality from Uruguay. But, what I did not realise was that the staff was so used to the conventional orders that any deviation might have given a fit to them. So, once I told the clerk that I wanted only half a sandwich. His reply was: “What am I going to do with the other half?” and I said' You can give it to the next person asking for another half sandwich." Well, I can tell you by his looks he was certainly not thrilled with my reply. And I knew all the reasons why he was not happy but still gave the half-sandwich anyways. Sometimes though awareness is not enough. So without much change in my attitude and my demand, a week later again, I told another clerk the same thing at the sandwich hut, but this time it was different. She said “Do you want the top of the sandwich or the bottom?” My jaw gaped open and I never asked for half a sandwich again. But, I am sure you folks might still be interested in knowing the recipe for FULL Chivito sandwich from Uruguay. Feel free to contact our Chef Varun Arora varun.arora@meyerindia.in
